Computer Security - Final Exam and Final Project

Hi Students!

As mentioned before, since you will be very busy finalizing your thesis during the last week of class, I decided that your final exam for Computer Security subject will be for you to Design and Propose your own Antivirus. Here are the details of the project:

• One proposal will be composed of 2 students (2 students! dili 3, dili 1, dili 4)
• Submit your documentation for the Proposed antivirus on Friday (March 28, 2014) - DEADLIEST DEADLINE!
• Format - Short Bond paper, Font: 11 Arial 1.5 spacing
• For the documentation

I - Introduction

This section contains a description of the proposed antivirus. Discuss what is the difference of your proposed antivirus against other. Also, if you have sources of information on how you came up with the idea of the proposed antivirus, discuss it in this section

II - Main Function and Application

This section contains a description of the application's features and brief information on the application's functions and components. You should have at least 10 features or functions of your antivirus and give step-by-step instructions for performing typical user tasks that the application provides. 

III - Hardware and Software Requirements

To ensure the functioning of the antivirus, discuss what are the software and hardware requirements for the computer.

IV - Installing the Application

In this section, discuss how to install your antivirus. Include pictures (photoshopped images). Indicate if user needs Registration or Activation.

Final Defense Reminders and Other Details

Hello Students!

As you all know, your final defense is fast approaching, Mar. 8, 2013 (Saturday). In preparation for this, let me remind you of important things you'll have to accomplish for the last 2 weeks.

Thesis Fee:

As discussed during your Preliminary Defense, the break down of your fee for the Thesis Defense (Prelim and Final) amounting to P2150.00 per group has already been presented. Each group have already paid half of the fee (P1000) during the Preliminary Defense.

The deadline for the rest of the fee (P1150) will be on Mar. 7 (Friday).

Please approach me directly for any question regarding the fee.

Adviser:

You need to approach your advisers at least twice before the final defense. I will be collecting the certification, the same ones you submitted during the Preliminary Defense, to prove that you had consultation with them.
Deadline will be Mar. 5 (Wed). Also, have them check you system/website/application and documents for finalization.

Grammarian:

Same with your adviser, please submit your complete documents to your assigned grammarians. I will also collect the certification on Mar. 5 (Wed). Groups who will fail to submit the certifications on that date will not be allowed to undergo the Final Defense.

Documentation:

Please submit your completed documentation to your grammarian, from Title page to Appendices. Please refer to the Capstone Project documentation format.

Note:

On the day of the defense, your systems/website/application should be at least 90% functional. Meaning, all the objectives you indicated in your documents are met. Also, it should already be uploaded (if it's a website), converted to an installer (if it's a software), uploaded to Google/Android Store (if it's an application).

Have your clients sign a letter or certification, proving that they have tried and tested and you have implemented the system/website/application. You will present this during the final defense.

Pre-Final Milestones and Important Details

For every meeting, all members should be present. Else, no grade.
On Feb. 12 (Wed), those groups who will not reach the 50% target will be advised to stop. You only have less than a month to work on your projects. So if you cant finish 50% next week, how much more for the following weeks.
Your final defense will be Mar. 8, no extensions. So please do your projects double time.

Milestone for Pre-Final Period. (50 pts each)

- At least 10 pages (UI)
- Stable database connection
- CRUD Operations

Feb 7
- One of your major objectives is met
- bring documents

Feb 12
- 50% project is done
- all UI is established
- can perform more than one transaction

Feb 19 - 21
-70% of project is done
-UI is established
-Login / Logout / Other access is working
- only few revisions

Feb 26
- all objectives are met
- established db connection
- established all transactions
- only minor functions not working

Feb 28
- Final checking
- at least 90 % working

Thesis Milestone Until Midterm Exams

Good day Studes!

As I have mentioned before, I will be setting a milestone for you to achieve to successfully finish your thesis project. As also mentioned, in every meeting we have in our Thesis class, I will be checking those milestone and it will correspond points which will be your score and your grade for the Midterm.

So, Please take note of the dates and the milestone that you should accomplish:

• January 17, 2014 (Fri) - at least 5 pages (UI) of the website, system, application (DONE) - 50pts

• January 22, 2014 (Wed) - at least 5 pages (UI) plus connection to database with one of the CRUD operations (Create, Read, Update, Delete) - 50pts

• January 24, 2014 (Frid) - at least 10 pages (UI) plus database and complete CRUD operations - 50pts

• January 29, 2014 (Wed) - one of the main objectives of the project should already be present - 50pts

• January 31, 2014 (Fri) - 50% of the project should be done. UI should already be established. There should be more than one operation/transaction that can be performed by your system. - 50pts

TOTAL: 250 pts

Only the following groups were able to have their first milestone checked:
